introduces the first guest speaker: Dr. Muhammad Sikander Akbar, who
is an Invasive Cardiologist. Dr. Akbar gave an excellent
lecture entitled, "Looking Beyond Angiogram." The
CAC-ACCN nurses enjoy a lavish meal provided by an educational grant

A new affiliate chapter
of ACCN formed in Chicago, IL, February 26th, with 45 founding
members present. Officers were elected and a mission statement
developed. A group photo seen below of the founding members of
the new CAC-ACCN to service the nurses in the Chicago area and
surrounding cities. The Director of Patient Care Services, Dr.
Angelique Richard opened the meeting with a very empowering speech
(photo number 1). She gave the chapter her full blessing and
is allowing the group to host their quarterly CE programs at Saint
Francis Hospital in Evanston, IL.
Activities of this chapter will be posted on this web site, so do drop in again and watch the developments of this highly motivated group of cardiac nurses. We were just informed that another CVN Fellowship Program will begin at Saint Francis Hospital soon and is open to any nurse who can go to Saint Francis for the Program. Eun Goldstein is the CVRN Fellowship Program Director at Saint Francis Hospital.
The CVN Fellowship Fellowship Program
is a multilevel Clinical Cardiovascular Nurse Training
Course designed after the ACCN's Core Curriculum for Cardiovascular
Nurses. The ACCN encourages others to develop these programs
to assist nurses in becoming CVRN Board Certified in their level of
specialty within Cardiovascular Nursing. Contact the
