Job Description:
The Director, Nursing is responsible to the Vice President
for facilitating, coordinating and delegating the delivery of patient care to a
defined group of patients during their entire hospitalization period. The
Director, Nursing provides leadership and overall responsibility for the
functioning of assigned clinical patient care/procedural unit(s). She/he
is responsible 24 hours a day, with full accountability, for the staffing and
management of patient care in each of his/her units, for promoting the practice
of professional nursing in a specified patient care area, and for the
acquisition, development, and utilization of resources (human and material)
needed to fulfill those responsibilities. She/he acts as a liaison between
physicians and the patient care team and works cooperatively with
administrators, physicians, staff, other managers and all customers of the
Methodist Healthcare System to provide services, which consistently meet and
exceed the expectations of their customers. This is accomplished by
assessing and prioritizing opportunities to improve, plan and implement
effective changes and evaluate outcomes of process improvement activities.

Job Requirements:
1. RN required, Bachelors Degree required, Master’s Degree or
enrolled in a Master’s Program.
2. Five years previous healthcare experience is required,
preferably in a cardiovascular or nursing role. At least 2 years supervisory or
management experience is required.
Completes and maintains current competencies and training as
defined by department/unit and/or clinical specialty area.
Minimum License and Certificates Required:
1. Current RCIS Certificate and/or valid Texas license
(registered nurse) or 5 years Cath Lab Director experience and RCIS. If does not
have RCIS must obtain within 6 months from hire date.
2. CPR Certificate.
